Apart from rich cultural heritage, preserved nature and pure sea, Croatia offers numerous sports activities.

Team sports, tennis, cycling, hiking, mountaineering

Mild climate and numerous grounds for team sports: basketball, handball, volleyball, soccer and football attract amateur and professional teams to Croatia. Next to most hotels and campgrounds on the Adriatic are numerous grounds for tennis, basketball, beach volleyball and other sports. Tennis is especially popular, and Umag in Istria and Zagreb host the ATP tournament and Bol on Brač hosts the WTA tournament. From north to south and from east to west of Croatia run numerous cycling trails as well as hiking and jogging trails. Marked mountain trails, mountains hut and shelters are on all larger mountains, and especially in Gorski Kotar, Velebit, Učka, Mosor, Biokovo, Medvednica, Žumberak, Ivančica and Papuk.

Water sports

In bigger tourist centres, it"s possible to rent boats, fishing and diving equipment, and there are numerous scuba diving schools and schools for wind-surfing. Rafting is organized on rivers Cetina and Dobra. You can experience a wild kayak or canoe riding on rivers Kupa, Korana, Mreznica, Cetina and Una.

Hunting, naturism, sport fishing

Hunting grounds of the Republic of Croatia abound in all sorts of game typical for central and south-eastern Europe. Lowland deer is worth mentioning, which can be found along the Sava river hunting grounds. September is the main deer hunting season. Foreign hunters are especially attracted by bears, chamois, lynx and many sorts of ground game such as hares, foxes, birds etc. Croatia, in the opinion of many, Europe"s most beautiful garden has been an attractive naturist destination for five decades. The precious Adriatic aquatorium and numerous rivers in the mountains and the valleys of Croatia offer the possibility of sportive and recreative angling.

Other: karting, horse riding, paragliding, free climbing, speleology, paintball

Croatia has many karting racetracks as well as riding oasis offering recreational riding schools and competitions, training and rehabilitation of horses. Those of a more adventurous bent can opt for parachuting, paragliding or balloon flights over an incredibly diverse landscape in good weather conditions continue to attract an ever increasing number of flying enthusiasts to Croatia. Paintball lovers may enjoy the beautiful countryside incorporated into paintball "war fields".
