Vacation in Baška, Island of Krk

Baška is a well known tourist resort on the island of Krk with 1500 inhabitants. Because of its exceptional position it is very suitable for whole families to spend their holidays there. It is situated on the southern part of the island where the island road ends and a beautiful crystal-clear sea begins. The town is free of traffic with its own quiet pace of living.

Beaches: Baška abounds in beaches, some thirty pebbled beaches accessible to swimmers of all ages, while some of them have to be reached on foot or by boat. Still, the biggest and one of the most beautiful is Baška's Great Beach (Vela Plaža), right in the centre of the town, surrounded by bars, restaurants, pizzerias, cafes, hotels, private flats and other things all of which are an integral part of the town attractions. The Great Beach is a natural pebble beach, 1800 m long, which can take several thousand swimmers with ease. It's particularly suitable for children and non-swimmers. Since 1999, the European Blue Flag has been waving on Baška's Great Beach, today a trademark of Baška, as proof of the high quality and standards of the beach

Climate: Baška has all the characteristics of the Mediterranean climate - pleasant springs, warm summers with little rainfall, gentle autumns and windy winters. Winds that mark the individual seasons blow in Baška - most often the bora, a wind that dominates in winter, the sirocco in spring and autumn, and the maestral, or north-westerly, in summer. In summer, sea temperature can rise to 25 C?, and the swimming season lasts from May to September.
